涂家洞村位于湖南石门县县子良乡西北角，距石门县城90公里左右。全村面积约12.3平方公里，总人口约900人。村内有天然的重晶石和大理石矿产资源，有以蜜柚、柑橘为主的林果业，山林大面积森林覆盖，山清水秀。
