历史沿革

介绍

武陵县，古代县名，治今湖南省武陵区。据《隋书·地理志》载，开皇九年(589年)隋灭陈之战后，废陈在武陵郡所置的沅州，改武陵郡为常德市，并临、汉寿县、沅南为“武陵县”。是为武陵县设置之始，此后一直使用。中华民国二年(1913年)，改武陵县为鼎城区。
