金针虫为害各种蔬菜播下的种子、幼苗幼虫在土中取食播种下的种子、萌出的幼芽、幼苗的根部和嫩茎。常使种子不能出苗或幼苗枯死。成虫可取食地上部分嫩叶，但危害轻微。
